Funding for Durobrivae
We are proud to announce that the FMPCT has approved a £1000 funding grant to the Nene Valley Archaeological Trust to aide their exploratory excavation work at Durobrivae – Summer 2019.
Dr. Stephen Upex – Project Director from NVAT said “This will prove to be a unique opportunity to discover more within the walls of Peterborough’s original Roman city site and the contribution from the FMPCT is most welcome”.
The FMPCT hope to continue to work closely with Stephen and his team, as results from the dig are further unveiled. Stephen went on to say “there will be certainly more questions from these initial exploratory digs to be answered which, no doubt, will involve more excavation planning for the future.”
Geoffrey Dannell, Chair of NVAT contacted us by saying “As Chairman of the NVAT, I too would like to thank the FMPCT for its generosity, Francis and Maisie are friends of long-standing, it is particularly pleasurable that we should be favoured by the Trust that they established. “
The FMPCT are only too pleased to be supporting such a worthy archaeological project for North Cambridgeshire and look forward to seeing what will be further uncovered from such a special location.
